Brainstem Staff
Patrick Wilkinson (Chief of Operations)
Patrick brings years of leadership and team-building experience to Brainstem Games. He recently moved to Eureka Springs from New York, where he ran an Architectural Metalworking company for fifteen years. He is the founder of the Lords of Clan Tribe, a large, tightly-knit community of multiplayer and MMO clans.
Dustin Hector (Creative Art Lead)
Dustin relocated to Eureka Springs to join the team at Brainstem Games as the Creative Art Lead. Dustin’s background is heavy in art, game concepts, and the management of unruly people.
Josh Hamilton (Technical Art Lead)
Joshua studied multiple forms of art ranging from hand drawing and painting to digital applications including 3D modeling.
“It all became an obsession. Most of my work was for small companies trying to get a leg up, and since I’ve always worked with small staff I was angled into learning not just one focus but instead as many as I could handle. There are so many aspects to the game industry that you can never be bored. We must always be learning and practicing new things as well as revisiting fundamentals.”
Josh brings us conceptual art, illustration, re-creating the concepts to a game asset in 3D, rigging, animation, texturing, special effects, importing assets into game engines, level design, and game design consultation.
Josh also helps on training interns as well as others interested in learning something new and fun for projects.
Ron Toland (The Writer)
Ron worked for five years as an optical engineer at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center before quitting to pursue a freelance writing career. He wrote adventure settings for the Conan RPG, several short stories, and two novels before joining Brainstem Games.
John Lockwood (Lead Software Engineer & Information Technology Administrator)
John came to us from Vermont, where he toiled away during the harsh winters at all sorts of techie related activities. He has a background in the IT services industry, business system development, data design and management, artistic content oriented production and web development including e-commerce. Mostly self-taught with reading and experience, he clawed his way into software engineering with Object Oriented Programming and design patterns. With a broad understanding of physics and the great leverage mathematics brings, he helps bring to life the crazy imaginations of our team. He likes games too.
Casey McClanahan (Programmer)
Casey’s been an avid gamer for over 25 years and has always wanted to work in the games industry. Since getting his wish, he says he could now die a happy man. We all hope he waits till after the game ships.
Terry Stern (Graphic Art Director)
Terry comes to us from the Great White North, and combines his background as a Graphic Artist with over 25 years as a gamer. He’s textured or skinned everything from soldiers of the past to soldiers of the future, and the worlds they’ve walked, driven, sailed or flown on.
He has designed a web media company, taught design fundamentals in college, worked for the motion picture, music and video game industries, and when he’s not making Photoshop dance, you can usually find him at a BBQ or in the kitchen creating culinary delights. Brisket anyone?
“The best of my designs I’ve found happen by accident, so I guess you could say, I’m accident prone.”
Justin Brown (Sound Engineer)
Justin earned a degree in English Literature but turned to audio-engineering in FL Studio. He has modded sound effects for Warcraft III, Baldur’s Gate, and Worms Armageddon and is self-taught in FL Studio. He abandoned a career with Disney World to pursue a more fitting job in the gaming industry. He spends his free time playing Halo 3, crafting RPG music, and frightening children with pirate stories.
